The Lunar Nodes are the points at which the path of the Moon intersects with the Ecliptic, which is the path that Sun takes as it crosses the heavens.  These intersections are where we experience Eclipses and are points of fate and destiny.  Cultures across time have given profound importance and reverence to these spaces, understanding that they are sensitive harbingers of change that shape and guide the path forward.  I like to think of them as where we are reminded of what is most important, the underlying deeper meaning of themes and collective movements that can lend both insight and motivation.  The North Node is the point of aspiration, the ideal toward which we should be moving while the South Node is a place of challenge and clinging to previous attachments that hold us back.   We reach for the North Node by identifying and confronting problems and sabotage in the South Node.  This is a reductive description of the evolutionary astrological perspective on the Nodes, and it’s one that I embrace in my practice because it gives us perspective and ways to work with these influences, and ways to engage Eclipses as places of change and motivation rather than as points of cataclysm and inevitability.  I embrace the Nodes as constructs of lessons and learning, and of guidance and direction.  They are not defined by but characterized by the signs in which they reside for any given period of time, and we can ascertain the development of the path of Eclipses as they move backward through the zodiac, always highlighting a particular axis of your chart.

Pisces and Virgo are Mutable signs, with Pisces being Mutable Water and Virgo being Mutable Earth, they co-exist along a spectrum that crosses between the spiritual in Pisces to the daily mundane in Virgo, from the ethereal to the practical.  Pisces is the idealist, while Virgo is the realist…but both are adaptive, responsive, and reactive.  Pisces swims through an emotional current to which we must twist and bend while Virgo dives into detail and analysis, where the magic is in the planning and the precision.  Pisces prefers peace, while Virgo thrives in overstimulation…both signs struggle with burnout, taking on far too much, and sacrifice along this perpetual continuum.   With the Nodes now moving into these signs, with the North in emotional Pisces and the South in analytical Virgo, it’s time to confront where no amount of planning or precision or high standards will keep the bottom from falling out.  The Virgo South Node is entrenched in perfection, with no excuses and standards that may feel extreme.  The Pisces North Node encourages us toward a softer and more gentle space, where creativity can flourish, where hope and love and deeper meaning prevail…but the challenge here lies in resisting escapism and idealistic traps.  The Pisces North Node is powerful where we envision, but if it’s not balanced with Virgo South Node work that digs into realistic approach and sustained effort in this Mutable dynamic, we end up drowning.  We need to see stagnation before it becomes a swamp, and we need to perceive the current when it begins to get rougher, deciding consciously how to navigate it with intent rather than allowing it to move us as it will.   This axis requires us to keep the mind engaged in Virgo while allowing for spiritual growth and pursuit in Pisces, and, as always, we get a year and a half of the Nodes here to do this work.  The last time that the Nodes were NN in Pisces and SN in Virgo was from June 2006 to December 2007, so it can be helpful to think back to that time as we ponder what this Nodal transit will bring.

Using the previous transit as a deeper reflection point, we can begin this time with contemplation and an action plan, which the Virgo South Node can thrive within, looking to the past as places to criticize and correct now.  What things did you GIVE UP and SACRIFICE in that period, what can you possibly reclaim or affirm in the NOW?  What dreams had to die back then, that deserve another possible look in this time frame, with different circumstances and surroundings?  What patterns are the same on that Virgo South Node, where criticism and burden may be inhibiting spiritual growth on the Pisces North Node?   Where were you then and are you now faking it or going through the motions, and where are you ready for the REAL work to begin?   What began under that point in time that ended up detrimental to your path, or had lasting reverberation and implications?  These are all spaces that may be called to examination or resolution over the next year and a half, along with working in similar patterns or making better and more advantageous choices this time around.  The Pisces North Node can feel like a time of being subsumed by that which surrounds us, and it’s important to maintain boundaries and not allow what isn’t our own to take over our own current and path upstream.   Pisces North Node needs to be about saving SELF, not embodying a savior or martyr complex, which allows us to conveniently avoid the more personal lens that leads to real growth under this transit.  The only way to maintain equilibrium for this axis, in the most general practical sense, is BOUNDARIES.

Eclipses on This Axis

These are the degrees and dates for the Eclipses that we will experience along this axis.  If you have a planet or angle or calculated point close to any of these degrees in Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces) it can be expected that that Eclipse can have profound impact upon you.  If you have Nodes in Pisces/Virgo you will experience your Nodal Return during this time or if you have Nodes in Virgo/Pisces, you will experience your Nodal Reversal.  Both situations are imperative points of destiny and fate that may spin you harder than this transit spins other people.  Look to the South Node release points and aspire to the hope that surrounds you.   Take chances, seek growth, and embrace the spiritual nature of Pisces.   We have already experienced ONE precursor Eclipse on this axis in 2024, as the Nodes prepared to shift, and that may have given hints as to how the rest of these will feel for you.   My analysis of the Lunar Eclipse at 25 Pisces is available for subscribers on my Divine Lunation Tier subscription level.
